City of Suceava is the capital city of the county of Suceava and it lies in the northeast of Romania, approximately in the middle of the Suceava Plateau on two landforms: a plateau that reaches 385 m maximum altitude on Zamca Hill, and the floodplain and terraces of the Suceava River, at an altitude below 330 m.
Suceava, land of legends - for visitors to this part of Romania known as Bucovina, it is a place where history is present everywhere.
Among the remains perfectly integrated in nature, there have to be mentioned the painted Orthodox monasteries that have been included by UNESCO among the masterpieces of the world's art: Moldovita, Sucevita, Humor, Voronet, Arbore, Probota.
Seat Fortress of Suceava - a medieval fortress, located on a spur of a plateau situated at a height of 70 m from the meadow of the Suceava River, from where one can see the entire valley of Suceava. The fortress was built by Petru I Musat at the end of the fourteenth century for defense purposes, and then fortified by Stefan cel Mare in the fifteenth century.
The St. John the New Monastery is an Orthodox monastery in Romania, built from 1514 to 1522 in the city of Suceava. The monastery church has the patronage of St. George and St. John the New. Here are the relics of St. John the New, brought in 1589 from the Mirauti Church.
The Voronet Monastery is located in the village of the same name, 36 km away from Suceava and only 4 km from downtown Gura Humorului. It is one of the most valuable foundations of Stefan cel Mare. The church was built in 1488 in only four and a half months, which is a record for that time. The Voronet blue is considered by specialists as unique in the world, and it is known as "Rubens's red".
The Putna Monastery is an Orthodox monastic sanctuary, one of the most important Romanian cultural, religious and artistic centres. The monastery is 67 km away from Suceava and 33 km away from the city of Radauti. According to the old Moldavian chronicles, the construction of the monastery, built by Stefan cel Mare (whose tomb is located here), began in 1466 and ended in 1469.

My husband and I have always travelled all over the Czech Republic. I was afraid that my dialysis would put an end to that and we would have to stay at home. Thankfully, it hasn’t been that way and because of holiday dialysis we keep taking trips.
