Golub – Dobrzyń is a small town in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province, formed by merging two formerly separate towns of Golub and Dobrzyń located on both sides of the Drwęca River. This little picturesque town located in a beautiful landscape is situated 30 km from Toruń, in the proximity of tourist route leading towards Warmia-Masuria Province. Numerous lakes, forests and hills enrich Golub-Dobrzyń surroundings.
Out of numerous, interesting and attractive facilities, we recommend visiting:
Golub Castle - Castle built by Teutonic Knights within the years 1296 – 1310 towers on a hill. In XVI century the castle’s character was transformed from Gothic stronghold into a palace manor crowned by the attic. Currently, many national and international events are held there, including Great International Chivalry Tournament, Great New Year’s Eve Balls.
Picturesque town, surrounded by medieval walls, which has narrow streets leading to romantic Old Town with its omnipresent rustle of water from the classic fountain, lies at the foot of the castle.
Magnificent body of the Gothic Church of St. Catherine from the first half of XIV century appears at Kościelna Street. Pieces of late Gothic polychrome from the beginning of the XVI century may be found in its interior, while the Gothic bell of the XV century hangs inside the tower.
