Gyula

Place description

The holiday area of Gyula is the only qualified health resort in the Southern Great Plain region. Therefore, the ‘Várfürdő’ built in the park of the Almásy Palace is an ideal place for treatment and recreation. The town is an excellent touristic designation thanks to its unique natural and built-up environment, its busy cultural life, the Castle Theatre with its traditions of several decades and the series of festivals and events arranged from early spring till late autumn.

In the course of upgrading the city, flowers and parks were given special attention. The city of Gyula was awarded 1st prize at the environmental competition ‘Floral Hungary 2007’, while it was awarded silver category in 2008 at the Entente Florale Europe and it also won the title the Hungarian City of Culture 2008.

Experiences of patients

I went for a dialysis vacation by the Orava dam in Námestovo. The medical facilities were first-rate, including the personnel, who were very friendly and pleasant. I was quite pleased with the manner I was received, the service, and the recreation in general, which I would gladly recommend to all dialysis patients.

Jan Novak, Orava
