Sisteron « The gate to the Provence region », flowery city, 485 meters above sea level, 135 km from Marseille and Grenoble, 180 km from Nice, home town of the poet Paul Arène (1843-1896).
On the Napoleon road, along the Durance river, Sisteron is a nice stop in between the Alps and the seaside "here a land stops and another one starts". Sisteron is the transition between the Provence and the Dauphiné regions.
Sisteron, an unusual city thanks to its beauty, its light, its colors and to its large number of monuments. It is a walled city, a captivating place of interest because of its natural location along the Durance river.
The climate is very special, with an annual average 300 days of sunshine and a pure blue sky. Its flora and fauna are also very unique.
I went for a dialysis vacation by the Orava dam in Námestovo. The medical facilities were first-rate, including the personnel, who were very friendly and pleasant. I was quite pleased with the manner I was received, the service, and the recreation in general, which I would gladly recommend to all dialysis patients.
